After King Saul, we move to the greatest King of Israel, David. It is important to note that David is not in the lineage of Saul. He earns or actually works his way into this coronation through some pretty clever strategies. David is clever and devious. David is impulsive and emotional. He is an artist and a warrior. He claims Bathsheba and sends her husband to the battle front when she gets pregnant from their affair. He is a drinker and a dancer, a song writer (of the Psalms) and a brooder.
He is human. He is us.
This is why the Israelites loved him.
